With a track record of 111 motorcycle off-road world championships, BRAKING® brings to the bicycle industry its portfolio of innovative concepts:
floating disks generally provide best performance in terms of warping resistance, however, they are structurally much weaker than fix disks when lateral stress resistance is concerned. As in bicycle both warping and lateral resistance are fundamental, BRAKING® is launching the newest S3 semi-floating disk concept that combines the positive features of both floating and fix disks. Besides, BRAKING® is presenting a range of super light, design fix disks and a range of high pressure sintered and organic technology brake pads.
Based on BRAKING® off road world championship experience, the new semifloating disk for the racing bicycle industry. Constant performance in any conditions.
Description:
The Batfly grooves on the disc’s surfaces create a self ventilating mechanism allowing the rotor to cool down efficently. Mud and dirt are easily cleaned from the pads surface and outer rub surface. The outside and inside disc’s diameter have a non round design which allows a better radial expansion of the disks in extreme heat conditions.
Technical details:
・ Batfly geometry with non round profile.
・ S3 semifloating structure.
・ Disc material and construction process: laser cut stainless steel AISI410, heat treated + finished with CNC machining
Features:
・ Improvement of the brake response and modulability. The Batfly system improves the rider’s feeling and the response during the overall braking event and brings the performances at the top of the category.
・ Better cooling effect: the Batfly system, thanks to the special grooves on the rotor, represent a great evolution in heat dissipation, due to the area that alternatively is not covered by one of the pads. In this way, when the internal pad touches the disc the external does not and vice versa, so the heat generated on one side can be dissipated inside the “ventilation channel” created between the other side pad and the disc.
・ Control of the dilatation at high temperatures means better resistance, compared to a round disc, in case of extreme thermal stresses. The shape given by the Batfly system, during the heating process, has the same behavior of the non round disc, with a controlled dilatation.
・ Better effectiveness of the pads. The Batfly system cleans and re-new the pad surface at each pass on the grooves, maintaining the friction coefficient of the pads at the maximum level, even in the worst environmental condition.
・ The carrier and rotor are made out of one piece but in 3 points between them the rigid connection is replaced by a pin connection, creating our S3 semifloating structure. This guarantee the best compromise between the prompt response of a fixed disc and the increased performance of a floating structure.
